Hey, so I got accepted to Hofstra and they gave me a very generous scholarship but I am still feeling rather apprehensive about accepting admission. I have visited the campus twice. I really love the location (being close to NYC) and the internship opportunities are going to be plentiful (I'm thinking about going into Journalism or writing for television, something like that); however, I am really concerned about how the social life is on campus and the types of people who go there. Basically, I want some honest feedback about how Hofstra is as a whole--academically and socially. My other option is the University of Maryland if that helps at all. Thanks so much!

Both campuses have a pretty diverse student body. From what I have seen from both campuses, the student bodies at both seem to be pretty happy - so I imagine that both have a pretty good social atmosphere. I would guess that frat life is bigger at U of Md if that is a consideration - also their broadcast journalism department seems pretty in depth - but if you decide you want any other aspects of tv/film - forget it -you would have to do a lot on your own. Seeing you are from Tennessee - if you are not familiar with New York/New Jersey area and the people here - and you are not open minded - Hofstra may not be for you. You will definitely have more of a reserved student body at U of Md. Though Hofstra is pretty supportive of sports teams - MD is definitely more so. They are both good choices so don't know if I could help you much.
