So, I'm a ninth-grader, and I was extremely disappointed with my grades this year. Be honest with me... how bad are they? I'm not planning on applying to top schools or anything, but I would like to get into a decent college. Here are my 1st semester grades (2nd semester didn't end yet).

-Honors English 9 (B-)
-Honors History 9 (C)
-Geometry (C+)
-Biology (A-)
-French II (A)
-Music elective (A-)
-Advisory (B+)
-Phys. Ed (A-)

they aren’t horrible, but you gotta step it up a bit. I know dude, i had a 3.4 and its like nothing compared to some of the people here. i just finished sophmore year. I gotta step up too.

They’re completely fine, depending on what colleges you’re looking at, and you probably don’t even really know that since you’re a ninth grader- so let me just say broadly that most colleges will like these grades, and they won’t rule you out from a super selective college if you get your grades up to As and high Bs for the rest of high school, so if you can just focus on bringing your grades up a bit next year. Good luck!! :)

Since you have time, STUDY and get the best grades you can rather than agonizing over this or any other website. Your grades are fine in helping you get into many good/great schools. The web can be a terrible time-waster.

Well most colleges dont consider Freshman grades, just sophmore and Junior. Maybe you need to work on time management. Try to be more prepared next year

You have four A’s and only 2 C’s. You’ll be able to get into a decent college. Since you’re a freshman, this is a chance to start fresh. If you continually improve each year, colleges will like that. They prefer to see an upward trend.

I had C+, C+, B, B, A-, A- freshman year and my college offered me a scholarship.

The trick is to steadily improve your grades as you progress and to try to take rigorous courses.
