Lol. Remember how I made a thread about America’s education system a few weeks ago?

America’s high school education is behind but our universities are far beyond anything overseas. We had 8 of the top ten universities in the world last time I checked and about 14 or 15 in the to twenty.

I just had the final meeting with the assistant principal, and I’m taking both next year. I can’t take Chinese next year, though, but that’s not a big deal Wish me luck!

Lol I bet the assistant principal is like, “What kid does all of this during the summer?”

I know that this is late, and I know you’ve already started school (through the 2018 thread), but I thought that honors Algebra II was easy. Algebra has always clicked almost instantaneously in my mind. Geometry is almost a joke. There are very FEW, if any, intermediate things in Geometry. We’re all over-achievers on this site, and you can definitely handle two math courses at one time. Good luck!

I know this is long after but I’m taking Honors algebra 2 and I am failing!!! This has never happened I know this is honors and stuff but I got two B’s but then I got a C and a C-! I wanted to get a B or higher for this semester (A- dream come true). I know this is a hard class, my teacher is really hard he teaches things then on tests they are “critical thinking” meaning the stuff we learned is applied into these complex problems.

I thought I was “mathy” but I guess not. Is there anyway for me to pass this class with an A- by the end of year? I can’t drop into regular because its full. and also regular class is so slow behind we are learning other parent functions while regular is learning linear functions like from alegebra 1. its a big drop!

Do you have any advice? Thanks so much your the best!!!

I learned logarithms in the middle of Honors Algebra II, and we went over quite a bit of trig as well (not to mention sequences and series and all that stuff). I took it as a freshman, and I had no problems; even though I learned nothing in Geometry.

The material itself isn’t very difficult. And from experience, I know that the younger kids in the class are generally the smarter ones (I’m a year ahead in math, although there are quite a few people in my school who are the same, since we take a test to determine it in sixth grade). You’ll do fine.

@penngirlpending What are you having problems with in the class?

@topaz1116 Everyone in the class is a sophomore besides me and the other freshman xD And there’s a sophomore in my Algebra class who’s also taking Honors Geometry. I had Geometry with him, but then I got a schedule change and I have it the other period. I kind of wish I still had both maths with him though, that would be cool :/

Last year, I made friends with no one in my math class, but this year, I’m actually making friends (despite the fact that all the people around me are junior guys and not all of them are very smart). At my school, the hierarchy is as such: The smart people take Alg II as a freshman; the still-pretty-smart-but-not-as-smart people take H Geometry as a freshman; the okay people take Geometry as a freshman; and the not-exactly-the-brightest people take Alg I as a freshman.

Of course, there are some exceptions; notably in people who moved (I have a friend who moved from the UK this year, and she’s in Geometry instead of Alg II; but she’s pretty smart. The math system there was different, though, so she’s a year behind). There’s also that one kid who was in Honors Precalc as a freshman, but that’s because he skipped three grades in math in elementary school (once you get to seventh grade, your math course is your destiny).

I doubled up Honors Alg II and Honors Geometry freshman year too. Honestly, if you love math and it clicks for you, it shouldn’t be too bad (but then again, my school isn’t top 10 in the state even, so…). Personally, I understood algebra really well (from having self-studied a bit over the summer), and I thought geometry was a super fun challenge (even though I was the only freshman). Life of a nerd. Anyway, good luck!

It’s fine dude, I take KUMON and took Álgebra 2, and for me Geometry isn’t even close to required for Algebra 2 you are fine. By the way Geometry Honors is really easy I got a 95 my first quarter and currently have a 99 second quarter.
@MathPro123 It doesn’t matter to OP anymore. Don’t bump the thread. Can somebody close this?
Repetition. All you ever need in math is repetition. Sounds to me like you hit that point where suddenly you actually have to try in math haha.
@awesomepolyglot No, Its Fine
