Has anyone been in their CCC honors program? If you have, are the courses harder than regular courses? Is it harder than high school AP courses? Can anyone give me some info on this subject, especially TAP certified students preferably attending or have attended OCC?

i was in mtsac honors.

not harder than AP courses.
smaller class sizes, more discussion.
a bit harder than regular classes, but nothing you cant handle.

TAP you can get more info about at OCC or wherever you go.
it has probably changed since my time…so yea

im not 100 percent sure, but i think its…
3.5 GPA, 6 honors courses completed, and TAP to one school only.
TAP is for UCLA/UCB

TAG is for the other UCs (not all)
which requires the same thing? i think.
but this is a guaranteed transfer if you TAG, TAP is not. :D

How many classes would you say an honors student would be able to handle?

anywhere from 4-6. i always did 4 and it was very manageable.
some of my friends did 5, a few did 6. just depends how much ur willing to put in.

Hey guys I’m a rising senior in southern california and I’m extremely interested in the community college route. I’ve got a nice upward trend, and got a 4.4 gpa both semesters of my junior year. I’m currently working hard on the ACT and hope to do well, but since my family income isn’t that much, I was hoping to maybe look into community colleges to transfer into the UC I want, preferably UCB, second choice UCLA, 3rd UCSB.
I am very interested in business and aspire to get my MBA, which is why UCB is my top choice as it has the strongest program. I am aware of Santa Barbara City College which allows the residents to live on campus while going to the CC, which interested me as I’d get a college experience my first 2 years of undergrad for 1/1000 the cost.
questions:
1.) Is it possible to go to the Santa Barbara City College and get on the TAG program, then transfer into UCB after 1-2 years with a high gpa? <-I intend to spend as much time studying in college, whichever it may be, as I do in high school. 4.0 is my goal and I expect no less at a community college.
2.) If SBCC isn’t on that TAG program, do you know of any other ones?
3.) I noticed there was a Berkeley City College, do the students also live on/near campus? Is it easier to transfer in if you go to BCC over SBCC?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated as I begin my applications for schools, but the CCC route is definitely a great route, and I really hope it’s as possible as I’m thinking.

I also would like to intern throughout my stay at a CC to gain experience as I would assume that I’d have more downtime than I would at a UC. Would I be able to balance all this?

No, you do not live in dorms for Berkeley City College.
Usually students commute(=

honors program is well worth it. although it does not give you a leg up per se for your prospective 4 year most ccc’s allow their honors program students to register for classes earlier than other students. this is a HUGE factor in this day and age because unless you want to stay at a cc for 3+ years the courses offered are extremely limited and there will continue to be a rise in student enrollment at the cc level due to the cuts at the 4 year level.
