<p>I'm a senior in high school right now (although by the time I get into CC, I'll have 15 credits), and I want to figure out what I'm doing before I go to community college. I'm an average student right now, who took honors and AP classes throughout high school (although got credit for only one), and my GPA isn't horrible, just not that great (3.2). Apparently, I'm eligible for the Scholars Program at SMC and the Honors Program at Pierce. I live closer to Pierce, but I know that SMC is a great school, and I'd be fine going there. However, I'm not sure if its worth driving that far if the Honors Program at Pierce is just as good. </p>
<p>I don't plan on going to UCLA, but I plan on getting TAP just so I have options. Does it really matter what Honors Program you go to if they both offer the same things? (to my knowledge they do)</p>

<p>The transfer rates from smc and pierce were pretty close last I checked. I am not in the honors program so I can comment on that, but as a student at either college just be careful which teachers youy choose, because both schools have good and bad teachers.</p>
<p>If you don’t want priority consideration for UCLA or guaranteed admission to the other UCs (besides UCB, with at least a 3.0) then don’t join. All Honors Programs are all the same if it is part of TAP</p>
<p>Actually im not sure about TAG. You may still be able to do it without honors. I didn’t really care about since i only applied to ucla and ucb. but i thot u needed honors…</p>
<p>I looked it up on the UC website and it didn’t mention anything about being in an Honors Program. So I guess that means you don’t need to be in an Honors Program…</p>
<p>I go to Pierce and I am not in the honors program, but to be safe you should do it. If you complete the honors program with a 3.25, then you are essentially guaranteed admission to UCLA for a non-impacted major. If you are planning on applying for an impacted major ( i.e. biz econ, communications) then it could give you the slight edge over another applicant. I’ve seen people get into UCLA biz econ with ~3.6 on this board who were in the honors program, even though most of the accepted applicants are in the 3.8-4.0 range.</p>
<p>As for TAG, you dont have to do much for it. For UCSB, and UCSD, all you have to do is check off a box on your application if you meet the requirements (3.0, Math and English completed by end of Fall of application, 30+ units). UCD, and the rest of the TAG schools require you to send a form, i believe.</p>
<p>I was planning on being a Psych major or a Sociology major, I’m not sure yet. I know they’re both impacted at UCLA and Cal (where I really want to go), so its still worth doing, even if I don’t really know if I’ll apply at UCLA?</p>

<p>It depends on the CC. At SMC, I think you need a 3.2 and be eligible for English 101(?) And Pierce, you need a 3.0, and pass an AP English exam with a 3 or better.</p>
<p>My honors program at RCC had a requirement of at least a 3.0. You said you had a 3.3 in the other thread. I’m not sure if they’re the same so you might want to contact the honors coordinator at your CC to check.</p>
