Honors college acceptance

Just got a letter today accepting son into honors college.

When filing it with other correspondence from Bama, “re-found” his acceptance letter, awarding him the presidential scholarship and the engineering scholarship.

So, I guess we’re set?

We’ve put down the deposit and applied for housing, with that deposit.

Son has applied for CBHP and University Fellows.

We’re set to attend Capstone.

Am I missing anything?

By the way, we got a nice package from engineering with a DVD and brochures. Haven’t watched it yet, as we’re in exams right now, but will let y’all know how it is.

DS finally got his Honors letter today also, same scholarships, applications and letters as Montegut’s DS, all that’s left is the deposit!

Congrats,

When did your son apply?

DSs was forever ago, (Honors app 10/12) just that the actual honors letter was held up in a rewrite. Still and all nice to have everything down in writing.

Don’t forget the immunization form…my DD had a physical scheduled anyway, so we downloaded the form & she took it with her. Turns out UA (and I’m sure most schools) need a TB test less than 12 months old. So no need to rush it, but if you have a physical coming up anyway you may as well take care of that too.

You’ll also need a meningitis shot. Many states have now mandated that students living in res halls must have meningitis shots.

If your doctor doesn’t stock that shot, UA will give your child the shot at Bama Bound. Your child will have to go to the health center with his health form.

I think hepatitis shots are “recommended,” if not req’d.

Thanks for the heads up on the physical. Can we take care of that over the summer, or will that need to be done before orientation?

I’m sure Bama requires this, as most colleges do now, but please, get your kids the shot for meningitis. We had some local college students die of it a few years ago. Very tragic.

Congrats to all and good luck for the rest of the school year!

I think (others can correct me if I’m wrong) you’re supposed to bring the immunization form to Bama Bound. Our dr didn’t have the meningitis shot, so I called Bama and they said that they would do it during Bama Bound at the health center. DS went there and got his shot.

^^^Correct, they will take the form at Bama Bound, but it can be faxed or mailed earlier. I remember my doctor being confused as to how the form is to be filled out. If you do fax the form, check to make sure that they put the correct number on the form, as they didn’t last year. I’d say get the form done and mailed in so you don’t have to think about it anymore.
