I am debating either going to the University of Michigan or going to Michigan State, but in the honors program. I would be at the top of MSU's academic pool, but at the bottom of Michigan's. How does MSUs Honors College stack up against the University of Michigan overall? Thanks

That’s pretty arrogant (and wrong) to say that MSU’s honors college is the bottom of Michigan. MSU’s minimum requirements to get into the HC are far from “bottom” of U of M’s admissions.

Your education is what you make of it. A major perk of the HC is that you get smaller classes early on.

Also, it looks like your ACT is 28? That is not high enough for the HC.

So you are telling me that I am wrong for saying I would be in the top 25% at MSU, and at the bottom 25% at U of M? Because statistically I am right, and you are wrong. I was asking about the Honors Program at MSU, not telling. I just wanted to know how it stacked up. And I can get into the Honors College, I was at MSU this weekend and they told me I was a likely canidate for admission to the Honors Program. But thanks for the remarks, but not really though.

The minimum ACT for the HC is 30 ([Honors College Admission](http://honorscollege.msu.edu/admissions/index.html)). A 30 ACT is NOT in the bottom 25% of U of M’s class.

(ETA: I looked up your other stats, you miss BOTH of the requirements for HC admission.)

[About Our Applicants | University of Michigan Office of Admissions](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/drupal/about-our-applicants)

So yes, YOU might be in the bottom 25% of U of M’s class, but someone in the HC would NOT be. You (based on that ACT only as that’s all I remember) would also not be in the top (or JUST barely) 25% of MSU’s class (https://admissions.msu.edu/admission/freshmen_profile.asp)

So considering that you need to be at LEAST in the middle 50% of U of M’s class on ACT score alone to be in the HC, someone in MSU’s HC would NOT be at the bottom of U of M’s academic pool.

Statistics are on my side.

Hergie10 - I don’t know much about UofM’s Honor’s College, but at MSU you will be exempt from standard course requirements (like prerequisite courses), have small classes, and you get enrollment priority over other students (great for picking classes when you really want them). Plus, the undergraduate research opportunities are incredible for HC students! Hope that helps!

You might get invited into the Academic Scholars program.
