im goin to apply for the ucla honors program and i was just wondering how important is the essay, i heard that as long as you write one ure pretty much in but im having a hard time with my essay....

the essay prompt is: If you could do research in any subject area, in what specifically, would you do your research? What experience(s) influenced your interest in this area?

ive don't really kno much about research, so i dun exactly kno how to answer this prompt

Write something funny like I suggested earlier ;). If you want to integrate the orthodontist thing, you can if you want....but just make it funny and interesting. That would be your best bet. Good luck. You have a busy life LOL. It's been nice talking to you and other bruins.

I know the urge to get into the honors program ASAP is strong, but if you don't have any good topics, maybe just wait a quarter. It's not going to affect your life within the program, and maybe you'll gain more insight into why you want to do it.

Would writing about how I am undecided but open minded and interested in researching something in the math/science field be ok? Is the essay going to make or break my chances? It's only 250 words right?

If it does turn out that it's not good enough, I can still reapply as a current student? And at that point, is an essay still required? Basically, can you keep on reapplying until you get in? (That is of course if the minimum requirements are maintained?)

at Honors day, the Honors program lady, strongly hinted that as long as you do a essay taht's readable, you are in
she kept saying like
"We try (Pause) strongly to accept as many qualified applicants as we can"
"Just send in your essay before may 2"

250 words is actually half a page single spaced, 12 point font... i remember my 500 word UC essay being around a page long. hope u ppl who are procrastinators are writing it today, or tomorrow, or monday pre-midnight. LOl!

The essay is so easy. I am very happy with what I wrote and it took me an hour. Just keep in mind that the word limit is 200, which is literally about 10 sentences. If you have no idea what you are talking about in your essay, thats not alot of BSing to do. Good luck to all those that procrastinated...It's not hard at all to write once you get that first sentence on paper. Good luck guys!!
