About the Honors Program: ANYONE who is interested, regardless of how you think you stack up to other applicants, should apply. It is difficult to gain admission as there are a limited number of spots for a growing freshman class every year. The Honors Program at UGA keeps Honors enrollment around the same level every year to preserve the quality of the program for its students. Also, I have to stress to those of you not to get discouraged if you do not gain admittance into the Honors Program right away, for whatever reason. If you want to attend the University of Georgia and really want to be in the Honors Program, but were not accepted into the Honors Program, do what I did: Work hard and stay focused your first semester here, obtain a fantastic GPA, and apply through Collegiate Entry after your first semester. (You may also apply after second semester and be in Honors, if accepted, from your second year on.) The Honors Program is really wonderful about accepting students via Collegiate Entry because you've proved yourself highly capable and proficient in doing college work. (And just to be clear... Once you're in Honors, you're in Honors, regardless of when you joined. It's not like you'll be treated any differently because of the way you entered.) I just wanted to make sure everyone knows that you CAN be an Honors student at UGA if you are resolved to be one!
I hope everything works out for the best for all you, CC'ers! :)

How does the Collegiate entry process work? I applied for the Honors program, but I'm expecting a 'no.'

The Collegiate Entry process entails a one page application that includes a short essay (no more than one page long). There are no recommendations required; you must have taken at least 15 credit hours, with at least 14 of them graded. (You are allowed to have one pass/fail class.) Most students take the 15, (at most 16) because it is their first or second semester, and you don't really want to overdo it. The GPA requirement is a 3.75, but the higher it is, the better, because they really don't have much information in that short application to base their decisions so the students definitely have to be strong academically.
Look out for the application on the Honors website about a month or month and a half before the end of the semester. It is also helpful to attend one of the Collegiate Entry information sessions. These will be listed on the Honors website as well. Best of luck to you all!

Does anyone know when Honors acceptances come out? Thanks!

I received my letter of acceptance on Dec. 22. but I applied Early Action so that's not much help if you're RD.

I also appied EA, but I was referring to Honors admissions. It seems like a lot of people have already received notification about their Honors' statuses. I was just wondering if there's like an final date for receiving notification letters.

i just need the application status check back!

some of these folks probably applied for the Foundation scholarship or one of those adn they are automatically applying for honors. That is what happened to my sister. We thought she got in without applying.

i had perfect math SAT 800, 720 verbal and 700 writing, have not heard. Oh yeah,
I am also national merit finalist.....high gpa.....etc.etc. I did not apply for foundation as waste of time. did get in early decision. have not heard. good luck.

i am anxious as I have huge scholarship from UNC-CH and am considering UGA only if I get honors. Otherwise I will gladly be a tarheel!
