Honors housing after freshman year?

For those of you with kids in the honors program, did they stay in honors housing after freshman year? My son is staying.. it's been a bit of a challenge because one of the kids he was planning to room with (in a triple) did not get a high enough GPA in his first semester, so he's now on probation in the honors program and could not sign up for honors housing for next semester. So in the end his friend decided to live in regular housing with other kids and my son and his current roommate signed up to stay together in honors.

DD stayed in Honors housing sophomore year. Great location but the absolutely smallest double room ever.

My son lived in James Smith Hall in his sophomore year. He wanted the private bathroom.

Daughter and her very good friend (also honors) are moving into apartment with 2 other girls (not sure if they are in honors). All seem to be serious students and studiers. It is a 4 bedroom apartment. My daughter likes to study in her room (current roommate, although very nice, likes to videochat). The apartment, although not campus housing, is very close to campus (in fact closer than some of the “on campus” options) and has several friends who are living there and very happy.

l&b, I think my son is planning to look into moving off-campus for junior year. Apparently you need to look into it in the fall?

My son went on a housing tour they had for honors kids and I think he put in for a room in one of the air conditioned buildings that are near Main St. I forget the name of the building. Presumably he made sure it did not have small rooms, although I did not ask.

My son was called back for the second round of RA interviews. If he doesn’t get an RA position, he is looking at Christiana Towers. He would like to be an RA in Russell.

My daughter is choosing to stay in honors housing. Some of the kids she was interested in rooming with wanted to go to north campus (I think there are some honors options up there - Ray Street?) but she thought it was too far from classes. She liked the options on North Central and South Central campus.

She found a girl who had the same interests, and was eligible, so they’ve signed up and sent the deposit and ranked their choices.

misterbill. daughter and her future roommates decided very early on that they wanted to get an apartment. my daughter and her friend found the other two roommates later to fill the spots. they found the apartment in the fall and paid their deposit in november of december. There happen to be several honors upper classmen (sophmores, juniors) who my daughter knows from her sport (boys and girls) who live in the building that they are moving into. Personally, I liked the idea of the honors housing and even my daughter who complained in the beginning loves Russel because of it’s location, the “quiet” study lounge, its close proximity to harrington where she works out almost every day and the convenience of getting a group together to do class work with other honors students in her major. I asked her if she and her good friend would consider staying for one more year in the honors housing and they were ademant about moving into an apartment. The apartment is actually very close to campus and is very nice. To answer your question, I think in order to get what you want in terms of building and/or specific apartment, the earlier the better. These 4 girls got the actual apartment that they wanted because they started early.
