Honor's Housing

I was admitted to FSU’s honors program, but FSU is still way down on my list. (like 7th out of 8). In the end, my decision will come down to if I want to graduate with a ton of student loans from a school I love, or graduated with a spring in my step from a school I like.

Anyways, I wont know for sure until April if FSU is my school. I have heard horror stories about housing, and having to get an apartment your first year because they don’t have enough dorms. Being an antisocial dweeb, I need the dorm environment my first year.

Is honor’s housing (Landis/Gilchrist) as competitive? Should I worry about paying (and possibly wasting) a deposit for housing, or am I safe to wait a bit until I’m certain?

FSU isn’t my son’s first choice either, but it is high on his list so we did pay the housing deposit to get a priority number in case he ends up there. I think we get all but around $50 refunded if he goes somewhere else. It’s worth it to me for the peace of mind that he has a place to stay if he ends up there.

Have you already applied for housing? If you were accepted to FSU already and are considering attending FSU and absolutely have to live in a dorm, you should apply for housing. If you don’t attend you will get all but $50 of the deposit back.

Waiting until April to decide whether or not to apply for housing at FSU will basically guarantee that you won’t be getting into Honors housing. It fills up pretty quickly (there are thousands of Honors students, for only about 630 spots in Honors housing)
