Honors Physics or AP Environmental Science

Hi everyone,

So I am very conflicted on what science course I should take as a senior. For background, in my school district 9th grade is a part of middle school so I started Honors Biology in 10th grade and Honors Chemistry this year. So many people have been recommending me to take Honors Physics next year. However, I feel like there is more value for me to take AP Enviro next year instead of Physics because I think that for my intended major, international relations, learning about the environment and its issues like climate change is more applicable than physics. I am not saying that physics is useless for me but I just wanted to see if I should take something that is more in line with my major.

So I wanted to ask you all your opinion on this: should I take APES or physics? I know that colleges want to see bio, chem, and physics so should I just take physics or do something that interests me more like APES? I am afraid that if I don’t take physics I will not be as competitive as people who have taken it. In addition I will also be taking, as a senior, AP Lit, AP Calc AB, AP Comp Gov, AP Spanish and Latin 3.

Based on your major and general course rigor, I think you can pick either one, your college admission won’t hinge on that.

I agree with @MYOS1634 that either are fine for you. However, I recommend you take physics at some point. It can be this coming year or senior year. However, APES would be useful if you want to go into international relations, which is why you should take one of these junior year, and the other senior year.

Have a good day!

@anthonytheboy i am actually a junior right now so i don’t know which one i should pick but i am leaning towards APES

You could take both instead of AP Comp.

@easyalesseffort I agree with him/her. I think that if you have not taken any physics yet, taking Honors Physics and AP Environmental Science together would be better.

Have a good day!

@easyalesseffort i think that i should take AP Comparative Government because I believe it’s really useful for my international relations major.
