Alright, so I've heard some real horror stories about the Analytical Writing Placement Test. Is it true that only half of people who take it pass? I was invited to the Campuswide Honors Program and would really like to be a part of it, but the honors handbook says I have to fulfill the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement (aka pass that test) in order to begin. Will they kick me out of the program if I fail?

I got a 630 on the SAT Writing section and I will practice with sample essays that they have on the website. I would like to take advantage of the Honors Program very much and I would be devastated to be denied over something like this.

If I don't pass, is it possible to do the Summer Start Program so I can pass Writing 39A before Fall or am I screwed?

Thanks.

I was worried about the test also, but it turns out you meet the UC entry level writing requirement if you have gotten a three or better on an English AP test or have gotten a C or better in any college level English course.

Anyone got the answer for this question? I have this concern too…

Alright, I emailed one of the Honors counselors and got a response.

If you don’t pass the writing test in May and then your AP English Test grade doesn’t come through, you may do the Early Start Program starting in August and pass Writing 39A OR take a community college class in basic writing. If you don’t, you will be unable to start the Honors Program in the fall, but you can reapply later if you keep your GPA a 3.5 or above at UCI.

Hope that helps. :D

Thanks a lot, gigirl942! I assume Early Start Program is in UCI campus…
