Should I apply? Do I have a decent chance? How much of a boost is being in the honors college?

You need to have either a 2070 SAT or 33 ACT to qualify. So, there’s no chance. Sorry.

Clearly you are not up to date their website clearly indicated anyone can apply to the program you do not need to meet the invitation criteria
I believe what the referenced link is saying is that if you have a 4.0 weighted GPA and either a 2070 SAT or 33 ACT score you are invited to apply. If you were not invited to apply you can still apply by petition by filling out the online application. There was another link that was posted earlier saying the average academic profile of the Honors Program applicants that were admitted in 2014 was: 4.2 weighted GPA; 30 ACT composite; 1970 SAT total
I don’t think any of us can really give you a % Chance. It’s possible and your essay (and how many auto invites accept the offer) will have a strong impact on your chances. If you don’t get accepted, you can apply again after/during your first semester at UF.
Keep in mind that a lot of Universities with UF’s level of academics don’t even have honor programs. It doesn’t directly give you a boost when looking for internships or jobs. It really has two purposes.
The first is engagement. The honor’s program allows a student to become more engaged with the university.
A student outside of the honor’s program can also do these things. Honor students do have several perks (like priority enrollment as Freshman/Sophomores) and access to some honor’s scholarships (Wentworth), but a student outside of the program can still engage in almost all of the “benefits” of attending UF.
The second purpose (IMHO) is recruiting. A lot of parents and students expect UF to have an honor’s program and take it into account when choosing a college (Public as Privates like Vanderbilt don’t have one). Demand is what’s driving UF to build up it’s program.
@Gator88NE thanks for all your valuable help
Out of curiosity, why did the @Financemajor22 leave out his GPA information?
Can non-honors students room with honors students in Hume?
@Psata82 4.34 weighted 3.74 unweighted on a 4.0 scale sorry I forgot
Yes, non-honor students can live at Hume, if room is available. However, Hume is a bit pricey.
