just sent my essay... does anyone know how often they release decisions?

I know in the email it says that the essay should be submitted within 3 weeks of receiving the email, but it also says essays will be accepted up until the deadline or whatever. How strict is the three week deadline and do you think it would really hurt my chances if I got the essay in after say 3.5 weeks?

I honestly don't think it's that important. another few days shouldn't be the difference.

Anyone hear back yet?
I am still waiting...I am applied in November.
Should I send my AP Scores or resume or something?

Yeah, I think they must have just sent out another set of acceptances this past week - I received mine Wednesday.

"For people who have already been accepted to the Honors Program, what did you write about?"

I picked the "interesting idea" topic and wrote about Plato's Allegory of the Cave.

I e-mailed my essay in early January and heard back within 20 days (33 ACT/4.0). A couple days after sending my essay, I got an e-mail back confirming that they received my essay; did you get one of those? Even if you did, it might be a good idea to send an e-mail asking about your status. In that e-mail you could tell them about accomplishments during the first semester. You could also send your first semester transcript, if you haven't already.

I just recieved my acceptance letter for the Honors College this past Tuesday, but am still wondering if it's really worth it. I'm going to be a biochemistry major; is the Honor's College going to really help me? Is it worth all the extra work? Is Honors housing better than regular housing?

Just got rejected... it's a *****.

it doesnt matter if got rejected. to graduate w/ honors you do NOT need to be in the honors program. at the end of ur senior year at michigan u can write an honors thesis and STILL graduate with Honors. i have heard this from 3 current michigan students, two who are seniors. they are both EXTREMLY smart and ended up dropping out of honors, not so much because it was hard. but if they want they can graduate w/ honors by writing an honors thesis.

do you know why they dropped out?

one told me that it was alot of busy work and that some other drama happened.

another said basically it wasnt worth it because she could write an honors thesis at graduation and graduate w/ honors...

so dont get discourgaged if you dont get in, because you can STILL graduate w/ honors on your transcript...

I didn't submit an essay, but I got in today, which was a surprise. I think I will be submitting an essay though later.

so what were your stats if you dont mind!?

I got in today too...33ACT (35s on all but science) and 3.8GPA. I submitted my essay last friday, if that helps any

Never submitted an essay but got in a few weeks ago (35, 4.0). FYI.

Is Honors housing better than regular housing?

If you're a science major like myself, then the honors program really isn't that beneficial. There are a lot of premeds in honors though. Also I heard that the Great Books prof, Cameron, is retiring after this year. The housing is pretty nice though.

yah he is retiring...i wonder what will replace great books?

honors housing is slighly bigger than regular housing and I THINK not sure but you are also housed with the sports players...some people REALLY look forward to that.

i got in to honors today...but i still don't know if i would do it

Even with honors still too expansive for an OSS!
