Hey, I was just accepted into the school, and of course, now I have to wonder about the Honors program admissions (For those of you still waiting to hear from Michigan, I feel your anxiety).

If anybody knows anything about the Honors program please post it here.

I know that its over a 1400 SAT and 3.8 gpa, and you will automatically be considered and receive a mailing if you get in.

How long did it take some of you who were admitted into the program to get in? Does it also hurt you in Honors Program selection if you applied late, as it hurts in admission to the University? What kind of benefits do Honors students receive?

I think Honors applications are quite a bit slower to come. You don't have to wait for the automatice review. If you want to be considered for Honors, then by all means call the Honors Program office. My son did -- because his SATs were high enough, but his GPA was just under the threshold (private school). He was accepted.
Benefits are - you get to live in South Quad with other Honors students and take classes with them. More personal advising. There's a sort of coffee house/lounge for Honors. You can take a class with Ralph Williams - who is supposed to be the best prof on campus. Downside is that the curriculum is kind of rigid. A lot of students start in Honors, but not nearly as many graduate with Honors.

I got in to the Honors Program this year about 5 days after I applied for it. My stats are ok: 1510 SAT, 4.6 W, 800s, etc. I just want to know what the program itself is like and whether or not it's worthwhile. I know all the benefits U of M says the honors program has, but i would really like a student's opinion.

chibearsfan, you said that you applied for it, did you not wait to see if they would let you in automatically before you applied to be considered. Or did you mean that you got accepted into honors 5 days after you got accepted into the college?

I applied to the college, got accepted, and then saw information about the Honors College. I decided to go online and email the Honors Program asking them to consider me. They replied about 5 days later telling me I had been accepted to the Honors Program

Does anybody know what the proper way to get into Honors is. They say they will automatically consider you, but if chibearsfan emailed them and got a quick response, is that acceptable as well? Does it help to get into Honors early for placement or selectivity?

I don't know if there's any benefit in the way I did it. Did you guys get notified yet on if you were accepted or not? You see, I didn't know I was going to be automatically considered, I thought I had to ask speciifically for consideration.

y'all know my stats. But i saw somewhere online I think that the mid percentiles are 32-35 ACT and and like 1400-1520 SAT or somethin. Sadly, i searched for where i found this information before and I can't seem to find it again. argh. Dunno anything about acceptance %ages though.

i assume that was sarcastic cuz of the lol. What did i do?? sorry if i came off arrogant for any reason. ur gonna have to tell me what i said, so i can stay away from it in the future.

Just got a letter from them. In. I had 1490/800/770/760 1/430 when I applied.

I also got a letter from them regarding a scholarship given to the "highest achieving" among those that demonstrated financial need. I'm considering sending in my new scores for it.
