Honors Program?

Greatful ~ thanks for the info on NMF. S1 is above normal NMSF cutoff on his PSAT so he hopefully will be a NMF. We will already receive in-state tuition at Minnesota because we live in a state that has reciprocity. Would the $7500 be off the the in-state tuition rate then?

My son's scholarship letters - the one with $7500 and the other for $4000 per year are mutually exclusive.

anyone hear anything further about getting into honors?

Nope, I'm guessing we've gotta wait around another month or so. Ughhhh this wait is killing me (mostly because I know that honors and scholarships will come within a short time of each other)

I just got my letters for honors and scholarships in the last two weeks (they came a week apart). Everybody else should be getting them soon, I would think.

My friend got her honors letter last week. she wont tell anyone her SAT or ACT score (my guess is 2150ish, and 33ish) but she has a 4.0, good class rank and normal (nothing amazing) EC's.

here is another friend's stats (not the one mentioned above)
she got into honors :)

In-state, applied for CLA
ACT: 32
GPA: 3.9
Rank: 34/357
AP classes by grad: calc, microecon, lit, comparative gov, psych, and american and european history (7 total)

Bumping this up for questions on Honors stats

I got accepted in November and scholarship info I think in January ($11,500, I live in a reciprocity state). I got a 36 on my ACT and a call basically telling me I was in the hnors program, but to my knowledge nothing in the mail or email about it.

Anyone else hear anything new about honors? Any more letters?

I got into honors about two weeks ago. I was admitted to CBS about two months before that, in mid-December. 4.4W GPA, not sure of unweighted but something like 3.93-3.96. 6 APs by graduation (very close to max possible at my school). OOS, private school. 1550/2350 SAT. No ACT or SATIIs. Decent ECs, but definitely not a bragging point. My application was completed in early November, when my last set of SAT scores arrived.

Hope that helps.

i didn't get one waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Got my letter a couple days ago. As I wrote a few posts back, I was kind of expecting it because a couple weeks ago I got a phone call from someone asking if I had questions about the honor's program, assuming I already knew I was in. Seems they had forgotten to send it to me in the mail.

your SAT score is freaking amazing silversaline!
congrats on honors everyone!

I was accepted into Carlson way back in Nov (ACT 34, GPA UW 3.95, 10 AP by Sr year, lots of Leadership and EC). I have not heard about the scholarship or Honors - and I am freaking out. A lot of seniors from my high school have got their Honors letters. Anyone else on this forum who was hoping to get into Honors and hasn't been notified yet ? SweetSugar11 has similar (and better) stats, a number of other people do too. Could you drop a line please if you haven't already ?

i havent heard yet...still crossing my fingers :S

Yup, I'm still waiting too. And honestly, I'm getting to the *** (the 3 letter acronym that CC apparently doesn't like) moment. We all have good stats, and their way above the supposed averages for the all of our colleges, so why haven't we even gotten into Honors yet? I understand the whole scholarship thing because I didn't do a FAFSA and I think they wait until the March 1st deadline, so that's fine...

But honors? I also know some people who already got their letters.....I'm just really confused now. I thought I had the stats to get into honors for sure, but this waiting is just making me more and more nervous.

If you look at some of the old posts on this forum, it seems that in the past kids got honors notices in late March also. I am wondering if it has to do when you applied? D applied in late August and got the honors letter soon after she was admitted in October. Maybe after the initial applications are dealt with they notify in March. Idk, but I would think with the stats you all have you should be hearing soon. We are waiting for scholarships and finaid news and this month is going very slowly!

yeah no kidding, talk about a slow month!

Spoke to the admissions office yesterday about Honors (and other things). I was told they are still in the process of making Honors Decision and we will know next week (end of March, early April). Sounded like they were real busy.

I am awaiting decision from one more college and of course the Honors decision from the U ... so I am glad this time next week the waiting game will finally be over!!
