So I have a 3.3 GPA (unweighted) and 1920 SAT (I expect a 2050 in the fall). I am a senior, and I plan on applying to these honors colleges and pre med programs but they all REQUIRE a GPA minimum of something like at least 95... However, my SAT is way above their requirements and the only reason why my GPA is so slow is because of Fresh/half of Soph year... Also, during Junior year and now senior year, I have been taking very vigorous courses at a prestigious high school known to send kids to Ivys each year so there may be some grade deflation... But are there GPA requirements really a CUT OFF point? My overall app is pretty good and I am applying to schools such as BU and NYU but I am most inclined to go to a honors program at one of the SUNYs...

After your accepted, write letters to the head of the Honors Colleges and explain your situation and why you want to be in their program. You could also call and ask how to apply given your situation. I know that Buffalo holds places for exceptions, and that Albany will look at those that are close, check their websites. At SBU I think you can only be invited. Good luck!
