My D was among the first admits and is in the Health Sciences, pre-med track. Applied to Scholars (after being rejected from Honors) and ranked Health Sciences, Bio, and STEM as her first 3 choices. Just found out that she was, instead, admitted to Media, Marketing and Communications Scholars(!) and has housing in Morill. She sent an email inquiring if she can be shifted to one of her top ranked choices and received a reply that there is no room. Either take MMC and Morill or let them know so they can give that spot to someone else. Anybody else have this happen to them?
Bradley is the only honors dorm without A/C

@DPPhD I don’t know for sure of anyone in your particular situation but I do know that all scholars do not get their first choices. I would imagine that they would give priority to those accepted that originally applied to the scholars program when submitting their application and then fill in the remaining spots with anyone that they asked to join after not getting into honors or that didn’t apply EA. The business scholars and the science scholars programs tend to fill up first so I’m not surprised that they couldn’t accommodate your daughter this late. Many scholars already had their assignments in January. The first wave of deadlines for scholars choices was actually in December.
My son is still waiting to hear about honors. He applied in October and was accepted in January. They keep saying that decision is coming soon. I don’t understand how this process works.
Thanks OhioMother. We rejected MMC/Morill and instead filled out the housing contract and applied for the Health Sc Learning Community.
My daughter was accepted by the Honors Program yesterday. She has decided that Scholars would be a better fit for her. How easily can she transfer to Scholars from Honors? Is it even an option?
If what she liked about scholars was themed group living she could look into the learning communities, their deadline to apply is April 15. https://housing.osu.edu/learning-communities/
My son declined the MMC Scholars program since it wasn’t his first choice and he didn’t want to live in West campus. We paid the dorm deposit and sent in his housing contract right after getting the email in mid-March. According to phone calls with housing, because he got in his contract and deposit so quickly, he should get his first or second choice room selection. We sure hope so!
@watch37 isn’t MMC in Morrill?
Yes MMC is Morrill which is on the West campus. He wants to be in a double in the North or South campus.
@Watch37 does he have to give up MMC for that?
And he’ll likely end up in a quad on north or south, or a double with no AC. West campus isn’t as bad as people think! It’s really only bad when you get a quad.
@Bizdock That’s correct he had to decline the Scholars program invitation in order to go through the regular dorm selection process. MMC sounds great but after thinking about it, this particular program just didn’t appeal to him, so he felt there was no reason to accept.
As a follow up to my post, my son who turned down the MCC Scholars program offer because he didn’t want to live in Morrill Tower, got into hist first choice, a double (not quad) with AC in Busch House, one of the newest dorms on campus. So for all future students, get your papers and deposits in early and you have a good chance of getting your first dorm choice.
