Honors Scholars Weekend??

"Last year, 9 of the 50 were offered full tuition scholarships with a summer study abroad stipend, the majority were offered 3/4 scholarships, and just a few were offered 1/2 scholarships."

Wait a second, when you guys were invited to the weekend thing, did all 50 of your letters originally say you were finalists for full-tuition scholarships? I got such a letter last week, and I assumed that it was one of those dealies where as long as I show up and do OK on the interview, I will get what was mentioned (a full-tuition scholarship). Or is this not the case, and it's like you said, where I only have a 9 in 50 (or so) chance of getting the full-tuition scholarship, and the only thing quasi-guaranteed is a half-tuition or greater scholarship (assuming it's like last year), even though I'm a "finalist for a full-tuition scholarship"?

Of course, it'd be absolutely awesome to get any sort of significant merit aid to Vandy, whether it's 1/2, 3/4, full, or anything in between; I'm just wondering....

thank you everyone!

The stats I mentioned are specifically for the College of Arts and Science. Did you apply to engineering? I'm pretty sure last year that the scholarships for engineering were announced in the invitation letters. Last year, the letters for A&S kids were sent out telling the 50 of us that we were finalists for the full-tuition scholarship as well, but the competition definitely wasn't over yet.

Of course, they could always be increasing the amount of merit scholarships available.

I'm A&S. Darn, I thought the competition was over! :)
