Honors Teacher Recommendation vs Regular Teacher Recommendation

Normally I'm a really shy individual so I don't socialize with teachers that much. So now when I'm thinking about asking for recommendations, I don't really know who to ask?

Because most of my classes are honors classes, I feel intimidated by the students and the teachers. However, this year I took a regular English class, Literature and Film, and for the first time I truly shined. The teacher continuously praised me on my writing abilities and commented to a couple of my friends on how gifted I am.

I really want to ask her for a recommendation, but I'm not really sure if that would be a good move.

First off, she teaches me Literature and Film, which isn't exactly a "core class", I suppose.

And also, the main problem is that if I submit her recommendation...I wonder if colleges would ask why I didn't submit my Honors English Teacher's recommendation instead.

The main reason I don't want to send my actual Honors Teacher's rec is because I know I didn't make that big of an impact on her. I mean, I'm at the top of the class but I'm not exactly the best...

So, what should I do?

I'd go with the teacher that knows you best, and can write the best recommendation - in this case, your Lit/Film teacher.

What do the colleges you are applying to say in terms of their expectations for teacher recommendation? Do they ask specifically for an English teacher rec, or a more general "Humanities" rec?

If you have a teacher who will write a glowing recommendation you should go with that, as long as the course the teacher teaches conforms with the college's requirements.

The colleges I have seen don't really specify which teacher...

Regardless, would the admissions question the validity of the recommendation when they realize that it was from a regular teacher?

Do who you think will show who you are the best. I'm in the same problem:
I want my ceramics teacher to write my letter of rec because I love her class and I'm very close to her. This is rare for me because I'm shy around teachers. However, everyone tells me to get a "core class" teacher. I'm thinking of doing my Ceramics and my Math teacher. I'm a good student in my math class, but I'm not really close to him at all. But in all honestly, get the teacher that will write a wonderful letter for you rather than the "core class" teacher who you're unsure about.
