Honors Weekend AND Destination Tulane?

If we are going down to honors weekend (and signing up for classes at that time I assume), do we need to come down again a few weeks later for Destination Tulane? How are they different? Also, what is done during the summer? Is orientation just another weekend like these? Is it mandatory?

You do not want to do both Destination Tulane and Honors Weekend. Just Honors Weekend is the way to go. There are some things at Orientation that are more detailed than at Honors Weekend, because everyone at Orientation is enrolled while HW is still exploratory for some. This also makes Orientation another opportunity to find a roommate. It is not mandatory, however. If you can only do one and you are sure Tulane is the choice, I would do Honors Weekend, get signed up for classes, try to find a roommate, and ask as many questions during the sessions as you can.

Of course since you are from Louisiana maybe doing HW and Orientation isn’t too difficult. But doing DT also would be overkill.

Looking for recommendations on where to stay for destination tulane days near campus which would be easy to get to by taxi. Thanks

The most popular choices, if they are still available, are the Hampton Inn or the Best Western on St. Charles. Short taxi ride from there. Usually that is best for the streetcar also, but it will be closed down starting at the end of March for repairs to the track supports. Most unfortunate, although there will be buses taking their place. There are a couple of other hotels people have mentioned on here, a Quality Inn and Maison St. Charles, I think. All of these hotels are fairly close to each other, and about equidistant between downtown and campus. Probably about $10-$12 cab ride, I think? But a straight shot up St. Charles.
