HOPE and other scholarship?

I have few question about scholarships.

  1. For GA HOPE scholarship student need to apply or does school do it?
If student need to apply ,where they need to apply, like link or website? How to find out last date of applying?
  2. Any good website to find scholarships? How is fastweb.com?Its ok to make account on that?Or any other websites ?
    Thank you.

@Dizzywillow Georgia students need to create a Georgia Futures account, which would use to look up your Hope GPA. You would have to look up your high school on the website and your high school grades up to this point should pull up. You would also need to send in your standardized test scores to Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) if you are hoping to get the Zell Miller scholarship (3.7 Hope GPA and at least a 26 ACT or 1200 SAT score) which is full tuition at all state public schools. A 3.0 Hope GPA will get you the Hope Scholarship which is about 70% of full tuition at state public schools. My daughter applied to some some scholarships on FastWeb and Scholarship.com but never had any success getting any scholarships.

@ChangeTheGame - At what stage we will come to know about scholarship/aid being offered? For ex: if the kid got selected into UGA, does the acceptance letter contains how much scholarship/aid they are going to offer? How does that work? Appreciate your reply.

Also I am guessing its either HOPE or Zell Miller but not both for someone with 3.7+ GPA. Correct me if I am wrong.

My daughter did not end up staying in-state for college so I didn’t go through the entire process, but when she was accepted into UGA, she also received a One UGA Scholarship from UGA and that letter showed the estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) for UGA minus the value of the Zell Miller Scholarship and that One UGA Scholarship. You can only get either Zell Miller or Hope, but not both which showed the costs at just over 15K. I don’t remember if the final UGA’s financial aid offer that we got from the admissions portal had the Zell Miller subtracted out or not.
