during my freshman and 1st semester of sophomore year in HS, i went through plights which was truly devastating. i was inundated w/ adversities and it might affect my chance. my average was about an 87. but what if my second semester of sophomore year and rest of junior year was all above 90's w/ 4 ap class all together,a job, college courses at cc, extracurriculars and i come from a low income family in a inclement area of living how will i be in the running for stanford.

Make sure you write about your hardships in your personal statements. Also, try to get your guidance counselor to write about your hardships in the secondary school report.

87 is a perfectly acceptable average for stanford. Not every one has straight A+'s. Keep up the momentum and you should be fine.

Stanford does not look at Freshman year, also.

Yup, Stanford disregards 9th grade. So you're good to go.

That's true.

Why does Stanford ignore 9th grade? Are you referring only to grades for calculation of GPA? What about classes and activities that they were involved in?

This is the first time that I''ve seen this mentioned. Wondering if this is stated anywhere on their website or application materials?
