horrific??!?!?!?! What is wrong with the picture here????

These scores are not horrific by any means....a 790 Math IIC puts you above the 85 percentile for a test taken by able math students. I think you need to take a chill pill and understand that you will get into a good college (NC state? not that competitive, I'm sorry) I hate it when people whine about above-average scores. Maybe I'd understand if you were applying to harvard or MIT, but gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I think it is very misleading, and actually unkind, to head your thread "horrific" Sat ii scores when all of your scores are above 650 and three of them are above 700. How do you think people who really bombed those tests are feeling? Your post is really insenstive.

Your Math IIc is excellent, so you're fine with that. However, your Math Ic won't be considered because it is the same subject as the IIc, so the colleges won't consider that. So your next score is a 710, which is pretty good. Unless you truly KNOW that you can do better on that next time, don't retake it. Now you have Bio -M and U.S. history. Only retake one of those if you want. What are you better at? Or better, what can you easily prep for? That's only a decision you can make.

So in reality, only if you want to, you can retake one other test to up the score. However, I personally think your top two scores are fine, and that you should concentrate on other areas of your college application "package."

NC State's Engineering program is actually quite prestigious and competitive
and Duke and UNC are extrememly competitive
Elon is a national-level school as well...

But I don't think i can do better on Bio M and US..
im still taking:
Physics
Spanish
World History
Literature (maybe.. my english is quite crappy and its 2nd language)

by next year

Will getting 750+ on these tests make up for the lower 650-700 scores???

HiWei, i took 5 SAT IIs... I just retook Math IIC since thats related to the majors in which I am interested in (General Math, Applied Math, Computer Engineering,etc...)

Cannednish is wrong about the 2 Maths not being considered. Recently both MIT and Duke Admissions Counselors have said publicly they consider those two seperate tests

I know this is none of my business, but you really need to calm down man. You've been posting like crazy the p ast few days, and usually about the same few things. About the scores though...not in the least bit horriffic, and it makes other people feel horrible when you say that

You are taking 10 SAT IIs, have retaken one, and are considering retaking more? I think it more important to get good scores on a few than to get okay scores on a million tests.

Variance, None of those schools are especially known for engineering, except Duke for bioengineering, but thats it. Check out berkeley, michigan, cornell, CMU, UIUC, northwestern... From what I've read, UNC chapel hill isnt worth it if you are out of state. If youre out of state and get in, you could probably get into a better school.

now, dont you only need 2 sat IIs since writing is included in the SAT I? if thats the case, a 790 and 710 is perfectly fine for the schools ur applying to. but since bio and chem are "how much did you study" tests, you could probably do better on em if you study harder.

Is a 650 (or a score around that) really awful for SAT II Chemistry? Is there any prep book anyone would recommend for last minute studying before saturday in order to boost my score?
