Hotchkiss Dress Code?

Yeah I thought about going to it this past summer but I chose Andover’s instead. Are you going?

Yea, I applied, the results aren’t in yet though.

So you would do the camp and go to Hotchkiss for the school year?

Correct, So you’re going to Andover’s MS2?

No I went last year and I went to the regular summer session. I didn’t know about MS^2 until I had been accepted at summer session because I didn’t apply to summer session until March. I don’t meet requirements for MS^2(i.e location and income). However I’m glad I was in summer session because you get a lot more free time than MS^2 students.

That’s awesome, I found out about MS^2 pretty late. So do the summer session and MS^2 take place during the same period of time?

Yep they do. Although you don’t have classes with them, you do pretty much everything else with them(dinner, picnics, living in the same dorm). A lot of my friends were in MS^2. Andover does a good job of not separating us just because we are in different programs. However, some people in summer session were very arrogant towards them because they believed since most people in summer session pay, those in MS^2 were being paid for by people’s summer session.tuition.

I can see how they could act that way. I am assuming that the only difference between summer session and MS^2 is the classes? And you must have really liked it since you applied for the school after summer session.

Yep that’s pretty much it. Except that their required study times are longer than ours because they have grade requirements in order to go back each year.

That’s cool, how’s your spring break going?

Pretty good I’m just ready to go to revisit day. I’m really excited for the diversity dinner though because you get to meet people at the hotel beforehand. You?

Yea, about two more weeks to go. I am excited to meet the faculty, the teachers, the students and alumnus. I wish we could take a class during the revisit day to see what it’s like though, but they don’t allow that.

True, but at least you get to sit in on the classes of your guide for the day.

Have you gotten any information from Hotchkiss on the schedule of what happens at revisit day? We got the confirmatory email saying that we we’re scheduled for the April 2 revisit day, but no other information thus far.

I know someone called the admission office and was told that the revisit day ends at 2pm and begins at either 8 or 9am. However, I haven’t been given an official schedule so I plan to check the website to see if anything has been updated since they have returned from Spring break.

The revisit program begins at 7:30 with breakfast an ends at 2 pm. I suggest you check your email, it might have been sent.

For anyone interested, the admissions office just emailed the schedule for this week’s revisit day the night before last, and they’ll be emailing out the schedule for next week’s revisit days tomorrow or the next day.

@soxmom thank you! Does this mean that revisit days are in different formats based on the days you’re going?

I don’t think so, it sounded to me like it was just that they were sending the emails out in batches. I know they had some problems with mass emailings during the application process, so they may just be trying to do it in pieces instead.

Oh ok that makes sense.
