Hotel for Vandy visit

Any suggestions on what would be the most convenient hotel for a Vandy tour?

I know there are a few that are right next to the campus (right?) - any preferences or feedback from anyone?

Marriot at Vanderbilt is probably the most conveniently located. It’s on campus, right next to the bookstore and fraternity row. Holiday Inn is right next door and Loews is across the street. There’s a bunch more just a block off campus.

Depends on your budget–the Marriott Pancaked mentioned is undoubtedly the best but also most expensive. The Holiday Inn is nice but older and still easily walkable to campus. There are 2 Hampton Inns within a few blocks of campus that are less expensive than the Marriott. I have also heard good things about the Hilton Garden Inn further into downtown on West End (I am not certain but think they have a shuttle that will drop you at campus.) You do have to pay for parking at the Hilton Garden Inn and at the Embassy Suites. None of the hotels close to campus are what I would call reasonably priced, even if you are trying to book well in advance. If you want a nice but more cheaply priced hotel, try looking near the airport–it is a 25 min. drive to campus.

Enjoy your visit!

If you are booking a random weekend (not Parents’ weekend), you might check your results on priceline.com, if you limit your selection to downtown Nashville and 3 or 3.5 stars. I believe that includes only 5 hotels, or so, all close to Vandy. I’ve been quite happy with my savings (and location) when I’ve done this in the past.

We like the Hilton Garden Inn double Queen rooms but only at a good rate (kayak.com is fast to scan–and you have the option of stating Vanderbilt as a district for hotels on Kayak)…but you pay for self or valet park at Hilton Garden Inn or at the Embassy Suites just as LHSCary stated. I stayed at Hampton Inn Elliston Place for a few days this week–you really can walk to campus from Elliston or from the area where Embassy and Hilton Garden Inn are staked out closer to the Law School side. Construction noise is present at Elliston Place at the moment but we were happy…this is near Centennial Park and Elliston Hampton Inn has free parking. I tend to rotate between these two Hamptons but Embassy Suites is nice if you have a need for that fold out couch and two rooms-- on a visit with a prospective high school student. In a freeze out where all the Vandy hotels are up in the high price range…try Brentwood hotels or Briley Parkway or airport hotels. I like Brentwood in this instance since the drive up on Granny White Pike or Franklin Road is residential and peaceful.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions!

Closest – Loews or Marriot

Best Bang For the Buck/Hidden Gem – Extended Stay America Vanderbilt (around 4 blocks from campus, modern, and inexpensive)

We generally stayed at either of the Hamptons (preferred Elliston Place, but both were nice). We stayed at Holiday Inn for graduation & liked it a lot … had fun at the bar, listening to area musicians! My in laws stayed at the Hampton Inn - Green Hills, and it was really nice (not too far away).

I have not stayed at the newest area hotel, The Hutton, but it looks really nice. Too expensive for my taste, but it has great reviews.
