Hotels for Temple Visit?

My wife and S16 are coming up for a visit in late October. Any suggestions on where to stay? Someone suggested staying at Conwell Inn on campus. Any other suggestions? They’re also going to the film festival in Center City.

Temple has a page with hotel recommendations that i think you can access through the admissions section of their website. These hotels also allow, depending on their occupancy rate, discounts for Temple referrals. Temple explains this process and what codes to use etc on page i mentioned above. there are a number of good choices in Center city, which is very close to Temple. Great fun area but the parking is high in center city, forty to fifty a day in some spots so add that to your overall projected costs.

i am likely one who recommended Conwell inn. Since it is on campus. they could both get a great feel for campus too while there and it’s a delightful boutique hotel/ only 18 rooms i think. Conwell inn has a couple of suites too so your wife could stay in the room with the queen bed and your son could be in the living room with a pull out sofa. i know my son def preferred a suite when we traveled because he preferred to not be in same room as his mom. parking at Conwell is 15 a day or was last time i stayed there.

where in Center city is film festival at? also, if your wife happens to work for govt, many hotels in the philly area will allow her to use the govt rate even for personal travel. she would have to bring her govt id and show it to them or some other proof of employment they would accept. i usually call hotel or hotels 800 line and ask directly what the policy is.

Thanks, my wife said you confirmed what she was thinking.

Great! i like to check out trip advisor too for options if she is still looking. you can learn more about hotels with Temple discount that way.

The plan is to stay at Conwell and take the train to Center City. My wife pointed out that using public transportation will be good preparation if he ends up at Temple. Not that he’s likely to have any trouble in that regard; he takes the DC Metro all over the place and has even gotten himself to Baltimore on the train. There’s not much question in my mind that Temple’s a great match for him; it’s mostly a question of whether he gets the big scholarship.

If you don’t have time then take taxi or Uber (price for 2). The rate is not bad.

@coolweather, they’d probably just drive in that case. Parking wouldn’t be easy, but we lived in NYC before we moved to the DC area. Couldn’t be harder than parking in the East Village.

it is easier than parking in East Village, bill will run around $20 if they drive into Center city. Temple is a great match for my kid too. Hope it works out for yours!!! if yours is used to NYC and DC, he should like Philly just fine and will not be intimidated by the neighborhood around Temple. although he still should avoid it

Check out discount parking rates and coupons for Center City. http://philadelphiaparking.spplus.com/. I’ve found it useful to shop around for lots and garages in Center City. You can usually find decent rates somewhere. I’ve never stayed at Conwell on campus, but I have stayed at Doubletree, Courtyard by Marriott, and Sheraton. You can usually find a decent rate at one of the downtown hotels if you’d prefer staying there.
