My son received an invitation to CWV. Would anyone know of some hotels in the area that are relatively close to the academy. Go Navy!!Beat Army!!

Distance to the Academy is directly proportional to how much you care to spend, starting with the Annapolis Marriot, continuing with the Loews [our personal favorite], throwing in the Irish hotels [can't think of the names at the moment] with a sprinkling of B&Bs thrown in and finalizing with the chains, e.g. the Hamptons, etc.

Annapolis is a very compact town. The chains are generally situated along the highway, about 4 - 7 miles away. Loews is a healthy walk away. Marriott is less than a mile from gate one.

We stay at the Navy Lodge. ;)

We have stayed at all of the hotels in the area. If you have a car, the chains out near the mall are definitely cheaper. I really liked O'Callaghan's which is a nice walk to USNA and about a block from the Loew's hotel.

Many of the chains near the mall offer free shuttle service to/from the yard.

navymom- which weekend is your son attending? Our son will be there in Nov

Our son was just confirmed to attend the Nov. CVW. Where in NY are you located, we're in Dutchess county. Next step is to book a hotel, since we plan on driving him down.

You might want to check out the Scotlaur Inn Bed & Breakfast. It's located above Chick and Ruth's Deli (a local landmark). It's just a short walk to Gate 1, right in the heart of downtown Annapolis. Rates vary depending on the type of room (there are 10 rooms) but are a bargain compared to the Marriott. Breakfast is included. Ask about winter rates.
