housing after freshman year

i have a question about the cost and availability of housing after freshman year...does georgetown guarantee housing for all four years? if not, what do people generally do? how is the cost of renting an apartment? the ease in finding an apartment? the proximity?

I just went to the GAAP weekend and this is what I've been told: housing is usually guaranteed for two years. Most people, when they hit junior and senior year want to break off into their own separate groups so they enter the housing lottery to get randomly assigned housing or they go for rental property that is privately owned but relatively close.

housing is guaranteed for three years. most seniors go off campus and get the townhouses/apartments that are still within 4-5 blocks of campus.

A lot of seniors end up getting on-campus housing but they usually only get singles in the Southwest Quad.

From what I've learned at GAAP weekend... if you go abroad your junior year, you can almost be guranteed housing senior year (something to do with a points system)... anyways I think they said 50-60% gtown kids go abroad, I mean even if you have to live off campus, I heard the prices are about the same (assuming you share with roomates)... and it's really just like a block or two off with the same campus security patrolling and everything...
