housing and stuff!!

Hey! Im from NJ so south carolina's a long way off haha. im trying to decide which dorm would be best for me! i know i want something coed. i also am most likely gonna have my car with me so i was wondering where student parking would be?? and lastly im majoring in Public Relations so i would hope for something generally near the communications buildings.

Help!!? :)

I’m not sure where the communications buildings are. But as a freshman, you’ll probably have classes in a lot of different buildings anyways. You may even end up with major classes not in their typical building. (For example, neither of my French classes this semester are in the Humanities building where language classes are supposed to be.) I have had three classes in the geography building and have yet to take a geography class. So, in essence, it can be really random.

I’d recommend looking at Maxcy, Preston, and Columbia Hall if you want co-ed, suite style, and a decent location. Bates is traditional style and out in the middle of nowhere. Bates West is only better because it’s apartment style, but it’s also really far away.
South Tower is a really good location, but it’s traditional style. It’s going to be co-ed, but I think it will be single gender floors next year. (At least that’s what I’ve been told because there’s only one bathroom on each hall.) This will be the first time it’s co-ed.

You can also try putting down the Quads or Woodrow… but those aren’t really for freshmen. They’re upperclassmen apartments.

You can also try putting down Honors and Capstone, but those are reserved for Honors and Capstone students, so you won’t have that great of a chance of getting it if you’re not in either of those categories.

try staying in mid part of campus. Right now Journalism school in under Coliseum (and I lived on Women’s quad many years ago and could make my classes) but I think they are moving to new building but don’t know when.
