How does my D find out about her housing assignment? Will she get an email or does she check Novasis on a regular basis? Thanks.

Her housing assignment should be on novasis. Check it regularly, as they should be up sometime soon. She should also receive a letter in the mail. If it doesnt come up within the next week call res life.

Great! Thanks, kbisus.

your welcome. I'm glad to help

theres actually a way to find out which dorm building you're in. I found out how to do this in a facebook group so im not taking credit for it, but heres how to do it.

"First go to www.villanova.edu. If you have to, login and your name should appear at the top right of the screen. Next to that it will say "Edit Your Account" so click this. Sign in using your information from your email account and you will get a long list of stuff. At the bottom there are a series of numbers and letters that make little sense. Some of these I have no idea what they mean. However in such a case as

fall07-eco-1001-006

it actually means something. First its your term. Then its the type of class (economics obv.) and then theres the big number. Remember this number.

Now open a new window, go back to nova's home page, look to the right halfway down and click on Master Class Schedule under Student Links. Search Fall of 2007 and click Detail Search then press Okay. The second selection down is course number - type in the number (ex. 1001) - do not type in the follow up number. Search it and you'll get a big list. Now find the long number from the other window (ECO 1001 006) and you'll see what class you have and when you have it. Plus your teacher...

In certain classes, there will be comments, which also could tell you which dorm you live in. "

freshmen housing assignments would be out next week on Novasis.

they are now up on novasis

Yup!! D is at Stanford Hall and already talking with her roommate. She's hooked up with all sorts of Villanova Facebook groups and can't wait to move in. She's thrilled and this mom can finally breathe a sigh of relief (for a while at least).

newdawn6--glad to hear your D is excited. Now all you have to do is gear up for move in day. It is quite hectic even though Villanova does a good job with organizing the traffic. My advice is to either go early and wait in line to be the first ones to move in or go later in the afternoon (around 3) when the mad rush is over. It is an exciting day!

Thanks momsworried--Actually, D is moving in early on the 18th for music camp. So hopefully, moving-in won't be so hectic (seriously doubt that!!). Our dining room is half filled with all her stuff. I'm sure we'll be bringing back a few items.

So Husband and I were wondering if we should still come back on the 23rd for the start of the official Orientation Day when they also have events for the parents. Did you go? Will it be worth our drive back to Villanova? We're just 2.5 hours away...so we're kind of leaning towards it.

You are so lucky to avoid all the crazy move-in traffic!!!! They did have events for the parents on the 23rd and 24th. If I can remember, I think there was a mass and a "good-bye" barbeque. If your D wants you to be there, then it is worth the drive. She may have already bonded with her music camp buddies whose parents will not be coming back on the 23rd. Since you only live 2.5 hours away you could always take a ride if she wants you to be there. After living in her room for a week, she may realize she needs some things and a visit from you may be welcomed in addition to a trip to the store. :)
I live 3.5 hours away and I would drive down, spend the afternoon, go to dinner and get home in the evening. My D was very gracious about this knowing I missed her.
newdawn6- good luck to your D! Be grateful that she's not in triple! Please ask if any questions come up. For us the move this year is a lot less stressful. She knows and likes her roommate. She loves the dorm she's in. She can't wait to see her friends.
