Housing Application

Does anyone know what day and time the housing application comes out? I really want 17th!

Spoke with housing last week and they thought applications would open around the 20th. It sounds like selection of an LLC can really help lock in a dorm choose as well.

@ELcollege101, what is 17th and why do you want it?

I believe the post is about 17th Avenue Hall, the newest dorm on campus right now:

The housing application portal for incoming freshmen for Fall 2018 just opened this afternoon. The fee is now $50 to get in queue. In addition, it states changes to preferences can now be updated through May 31st.

Did the payment work for anyone? I submitted my card info and it said the transaction was approved but it won’t let me go further.

Same for me @WiscoRunner

I think there is a box to click after you pay-it is not obvious, nor is it highlighted. Wish I could remember what it said, but clicking it did allow us to move forward.

Couldn’t find it. Mine just says "The reporting of this transaction to the Merchant has timed out. An e-mail has been sent to the merchant informing them of the error. The following is the result of the attempt to charge your credit card.

  This transaction has been approved.

It is advisable for you to contact the merchant to verify that you will receive the product or service."

Do you have another payment method you could try? I had no messages about the merchant or a time out. The box i checked was center of top and light gray. I thought I had already checked it to get to the payment screen, but when I checked it again I was able to proceed.

There are several boxes that need to be checked. Also, the roommate section was strange in that you have to put “none” at a minimum to proceed. We did get a confirmation e-mail that the deposit was paid as well. Still haven’t figured out how to determine number in queue, but everyone in today should be in good shape.

To determine your number in the queue, you’ll get an email saying that it started at “…466 and you are …___” (I can’t remember what the beginning numbers were). I was …502 so by subtraction I determined that I was 36th. At least, that’s what I gathered. I also was able to move forward with the payments with no issues, but I filled it out at around 2:45. I also received a good 6 or 7 emails from the housing department. Good luck to the rest of you! Hoping for 17th!!

I also got a "The reporting of this transaction to the Merchant has timed out. An e-mail has been sent to the merchant informing them of the error. The following is the result of the attempt to charge your credit card.

This transaction has been approved.
It is advisable for you to contact the merchant to verify that you will receive the product or service."

Can’t move on now–don’t want to submit the payment twice, my credit card company is showing the charge as pending, but the housing application thinks we did not charge the card–any thoughts or should we just wait until tomorrow to call–so frustrating…

@cubbiefan0711 I am just going to wait to call tomorrow morning

Just went through all the response e-mails from Housing and Residential Life with my daughter and she is #40. The wording is:
“The on-campus housing application at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities for the 2018-19 academic year opened on November 20, 2017. You started the process of applying for on-campus housing on 11/20/2017. The first application number was 177466 and your application is number 177506.”

Thanks @Napzee we will too–i don’t want to submit the money twice, escpecially since it says not to in big red letters!

Just did my son’s now. Up to 177697.

@dhart187 - #40 in the cue is a good spot.

Since the office was closed when my payment didn’t work yesterday, I called the credit card company and cancelled the pending transaction, then tried the payment again. It worked on the second try.

I ended up #92.
