housing applications

how do we know what floor and room number we get ?

OK, so like I said I got PTD-807-A2, which I assumed to mean Pardee (which I stayed in during Explore and am fine with - the combined desks give more room), does 807 really indicate my room number? Because, if it does, then doesn't someone else have this room number too, since I applied for a double... I want to find out who my roommate is!

jlchen1031, try logging out and then back in.

huh.. i logged out and in like a million times and it never worked, but once you told me to do so, the "application" link automatically reappeared! hahah sweet i got birnkrant! i'm guessing a double.. BSR-0608-A2

so is it too late to request a roommate? i know the search thingy is still available, but don't they take the dates of when you turned your housing app into consideration and average them or something?

This is what they told me when I emailed them...

"To request a roommate after you are assigned, you would need to request
a reassignment. It is easier to accomodate roommate requests submitted
before assignment.

ohhh dang. should have requested earlier then :\ thanks for the info tho!

My Room Reservation has a "-A1" at the end of it...does anyone know what this signifies? I understand the the first letters are the location and the next digits are the room number but what does this A1,2, ect mean? Does this mean I have a single? I signed up for only doubles and triples. Thanks!

maybe the A1, A2 etc. just indicates the order of who was assigned to the room. Like, since I'm A2, maybe my roommate was assigned before me and therefore, A1. They wouldn't give a single to someone who didn't apply for one since there is so few of them. They need them for people who actually wanted them.

A1-A2 doesn't really have any specific meaning... every room with 2 occupants has a "A1" side and a "A2" side, but it doesn't even mean that you have to live on a particular side of the room (whoever gets to the room first on move-in day gets first pick, so get there early ;)) So yeah, I'm pretty sure the A1-A2 system is just there for room assignment purposes, making sure there are 2 people assigned to each room etc.

yea, that's what i figured (name of house, floor number/room number, occupant in room)

so like me i'm BSR-0420-A1 that means, i think, birnkrant, 4th floor room 20, occupant 1 =D

really happy i got birn XD

How would one go about requesting a different floor in the same dorm? I got first floor on Pardee, and I'd like a higher floor with a view.

OMG, are you serious? I was JUST about to add someone's screename. Do we lost our "spot", or can we keep our room? Just found out I was assigned Birnkrant, and I really don't want to go somewhere else!!!!!

aldjleksafjzjfgiaeorwgio;gingariogaergn ARGGHHHH!!!

^ yeah i'm in the same predicament >< i don't know what to do!! i wish there was some way to find out who our roommates are now so we can contact them and confirm compatibility, etc... gah.

the thing is, I already found someone, and he requested me, but just as I was about to....

it's just really frustrating because "Auto Search/add known roommate" links are still avaliable, but when I put in the person I want to be roommates with, it says the person doesn't exist. His sn also doesn't show up anymore on the auto search list.

I swear to god, if I have to go through reassignment and loose my spot...

you were supposed to do it by may 1...

i applied for housing well before May 1 (in March), but I thought you could request roommates until you ACCEPT your contract?

i got birnkrant too yay!

guys, don't flip out about your room numbers. your building isn't even official until you get the email, and the room number is not official at all, just the room type. so if your thing says birnkrant double, 3rd floor, you'll have a double in birnkrant, but it won't necessarily be on the third floor. all that stuff gets shifted.

this is coming straight from a phone call to housing, trust me.

You Birnkrant-ers are going to have a great time, I'm living there again next year :)

can any of you help me decipher this code: FLT-0501-D1
I know its in Fluor but i dont really understand the "D1"
