housing applications

AHRC is cool. It's new and it has Air Conditioning!!!!

If you apply for reassignment and you get it, but by that time you change your mind, are you stuck with the reassignment, or can you keep your first assignment?

you're stuck unfortunately :

OK, I cannot find the online reassignment request form... where is it?

http://housing.usc.edu/forms.htm

it's labeled "new student reassignment request" :]

They're fast... they got my Friday reassignment request taken care the same day!

I got into Birnkrant, but it looks like I'm stuck (as well as my roommate) on the top floor with returning undergraduates :(

Anyone else in Birnkfrant on the top floor?!?

well, that's a risk you take when requesting reassignment... if i get my fluor reassignment i might get the quiet floor... that would suck. i also reapplied for birnkrant and north... so i may get the top floor. i'll find out tomorrow maybe if they're as fast for me as they were for you.

I think the top floor of Birnkrant is actually pretty cool. You may be able to see the Hollywood sign from your window (as long as it isn't too smoggy).

yeah you can see the hollywood sign from a lot of the dorm rooms when mount lee isn't on fire. :) that was a really smoggy couple of days

So I got my roommate assignment and I am a little confused. He is like the polar opposite of me. If I request that i keep the same housing assignment, but a new roommate, do I risk losing the building I have been assigned to?

Nikara, is it true though that mostly returning undergraduates, not freshmen, are in the top floor of Birnkrant? Would it be any harder/less fun to meet people than on the bottom floors as a freshman? Thanks!

even if you have trouble on the top floor, at least you have welcome week to meet people. no one will know many people, so everyone's pretty much in the same boat.

I lived on the 7th floor, which was supposed to be for returning undergrads. I met another freshman on the 8th floor, and he said that everyone just tends to stay in their rooms and not socialize. It wasn't really a problem because he could go down a few floors and chill with other people.

chilltown, if you want to keep the same housing, you'll have to find another person you're compatible with, and then each of you will have to complete the reassignment request form, requesting each other (obviously) and placing the same housing choice down.. the people at usc say it's an easy switch :] i posted the link to the form just a couple posts earlier in this thread..

all this talk of top floors.. is the 6th floor in bkt primarily freshmen then? :P

Yes. Even the 7th floor last year was primarily freshmen. There were only two upperclassmen plus the shady people at the end of the halls that no one knew.

oh great. now i feel like i'll be a social pariah, being on the eighth floor as a freshman.

so does everyone know who their roommate is? I haven't gotten mine yet

yeah i haven't gotten any information pertaining to my roommate assignment...how will we be notified? Is it posted online somewhere?

it's been online at TrojanHousing for a while... you have to confirm and pay the $400 though
