to plushminkie: I’ve never personally heard “plaza suite with lounge configuration” used before. I suspect, however, that it may equate to the quad configuration, where there is a middle room with desks and chairs that you walk into, and then off to each side of the room theres another room with beds in it. you can see the configuration here: [url=http://www.housing.ucdavis.edu/housing/tercero_3d_rooms.asp#leach]UC Davis Student Housing: Tercero 3D Room Models/url. They have quads in tercero and segundo. Don’t know what’s up with that non-existent room, though. Maybe UC Davis has it’s own room of requirement?

to kobeballen: it really isn’t much of a hassle. the ARC is a two minute bike ride away, and I’ve made it from my dorm to the death star, on the complete other side of campus, in ten minutes flat. thats NOT on a road bike (mountain bike), and NOT being in tip-top physical shape. I never really minded. so generally, give yourself time for a ten to fifteen minute bike ride. and hey, think of it as having a little work out everyday! exercise is always good.

Also, it is nice to have the bus line come by on rainy days–also handy in general bus travel across the town. It’s also a lot closer to rite aid (super handy) than many dorms, and the university mall. And in Thoreau, you have so much space! Instead of cramming all your friends into one room, you have a huge living room you can hang out in, which really cuts down on the claustrophobia. The quiet program on the third floor of Thoreau has quiet hours starting at 7pm on weeknights, as opposed to 11pm. How “quiet” the quiet floor will be really depends on the residents and the RA. It may end up being just like a normal floor.

Oh and the dining commons in cuarto is BRAND NEW. They were finishing up renovating when I left in June, so they should be all ready for you guys. Theres a second story aspect to the Oxford DC that none of the others one have (unless you count Castilian, but I wouldn’t). Just keep your mind open, and I’m sure you’ll realize its actually quite nice. (:

@jsw1188- Emerson houses a lot of transfer students. You should get in touch with your suitemates. Last year, the grouped transfers into the same suites :)

@kobeballen- as a sidenote, Thoreau is SUPER nice. Arguably the nicest of the cuarto dorms.

@jsw- oh haha I guess they aren’t doing that this year. And you’re right Castillian is mostly transfers; I was just saying there are a lot in Emerson too (at least there were when I lived there last year).

me and my friend are in a double in segundo, gilmore hall 3rd floor anyone have pictures or anything!? and is it really a bunk bed like the layout shows it is!?

Just checked. Got a Single/Co-Ed Floor in Tercero (Potter Hall, 3rd floor). I wanted a Single in Segundo but I am grateful I got a single in the first place!
