I just noticed that the bill for housing is up on my S"s portal. He was billed the amount that was listed for a “double”. My question is this–Does that mean he is not in a triple, but in a double (as he requested)? If so that is good news. Does anyone in prior years have experience with this?

Does that mean my D got Cerro Vista since the total bill is $6530?

Nice clue… anyone know?

If you go to Money Matters, in the Payment Summary area, click “View Account Activity”. That will open another window that shows each item of your bill. My sons’ shows “Cerro Vista Spg Rent” first, with the winter and fall underneath, then all the different fees under that. Nice to know before the 20th!

I just looked at my son’s portal and I would say that there is a good clue on the money matters tab. When I clicked on review account activity (a button on the left) it showed the breakdown of what we owe and it has Cerro Vista on the list of payments!
This won’t help students know their regular dorms, but it will tell those who want Cerro or if you are in a triple. Thanks for the tip! My son had his heart set on Cerro, so he will be happy! i hope everyone gets the place they want!

Great tip. I confirmed my daughter is also in Cerro Vista. She’s happy.

Congrats to your daughter Mariner116 and your son CSUF1986. that’s 3 of us here with happy kids who have Cerro Vista. We have picked up a lot of the things he will need in the kitchen and in his own room, so I am thankful that it wasn’t a waste. Now they just wait to see the room number and other roommates.

We are curious about the roomate situation. My daughter connected with three other girls on a roommate finder web site. They selected each other as roomates on the housing site. It will be intersting to see if all 4 get matched up as hoped.

Nice hint. When I go to account activity, it just says “Res Hall Fall Rent” etc., but adding them up equals the price of a double; this is good news, since it either means I’m in a double in North Mountain, or it didn’t matter that I applied for housing at 9AM on the day it opened and they put me in Sierra Madre (second choice) :P

happy in cerro vista!

Yah, I’m really happy to have Cerro Vista too!
I’m sad though that my portal says i owe $7,200 :(

Congratulations to all of you who got your first choice—Cerro Vista! My daughter applied for a traditional dorm and according to her account summary, it looks like she got a double! So, now we’ll wait to see which residence hall she will live in for a year. The roommate she chose on Facebook wanted Yosemite as her first choice, and even though Sierra Vista was my daughter’s initial first pick, she didn’t mind going with Yosemite. It had been on her list, anyway! Now we’ll see where she ends up.

Thanks for the heads-up! As of right now, we owe a total of $4,853. We paid the registration fee awhile back. I’m thinking there will be a Dining fee coming up soon after they choose their dining plan.

So far it sounds like people are getting Cerro if they wanted it and Doubles in the traditional dorms. That is good news!

Zungra^ I am fairly sure that you will get North Mountain if you put it as your first choice. It is not nearly as popular as the other dorms. It was my son’s 2nd choice. Our good friend lived there last year and he liked it. We also thought they were nice large rooms and you could make friends, but it was quieter than the dorms with the hallways. I hope you get it!

Sounds like everyone is happy. We are since it seems as if it is a double and not a triple. My S will be in engineering dorms Santa Lucia or North Mountain :)

Looking back at last year’s threads, it appears that some people who paid for a double, ended up with a refund when they were placed in a triple once the housing placements were announced. So, we shall see.

Bummer…

CalMom05, I was wondering about that. It seems so opportune that everyone thus far has gotten a double (that wanted a Res Hall, that is), though the people on these forums are probably the ones that care enough to apply for housing early in an attempt to secure their double. Let’s just hope that there will be no refunds coming our way…
