Don't worry, PEALS, I've only heard Parkside Apts being called "Darkside".

Shortie- Marks Tower is the least social of the regular dorms (not counting honors). I've never actually been in it, and I don't have any friends who lived there, so maybe it's still nice. You can have fun wherever you live, though, because, come on, it's USC. :)

I'm not sure if you do roommate-matching if you are reassigned, but I'm pretty sure you don't, since you're just going to be placed somewhere that randomly opens up.

I've been wondering about the roommate questionnaire/reassignment thing. I think they might still use it, because reassignments take place in June, which I assume is before they match up roommates. Why else would they need July through September (when they don't accept any requests) to work on freshmen housing?

Like I mentioned before, I got into Marks Tower. I applied for reassignment into Birnkrant (I sent it in ASAP).

I got my third choice, Birnkrant double- haven't heard much about this dorm, is it as social as New/North? I know it's right next to those dorms so I guess you could just go next door for parties

I'll be in Parkside Suites 6 person / 3 doubles. My first choice was Parkside Apts. but I'm satisfied. Does anyone know if the suites share one bath or two?

Oh, and does the Parkside cafeteria seriously have sushi? Because then im happy happy.

I got the 6 person suite too and I'd like to know the answer to this question as well. From the Living at USC booklet it seems that there are two bathrooms in the floorplan of the 8 person suite , but can anyone verify this for the 6 person?

I got Birnkrant too. My first two choices were New/North w/ sink. I'm pretty happy, bc I was worried I'd end up somewhere very anti-social like Trojan Hall or something. Yay!

I'm searching past threads to find this out, but not having much luck: On each floor of Birnkrant, is it co-ed? IE, are there guys and girls on each floor? Or, is one floor only males, next floor only females, etc?

It says in the description of the Parkside suite, next to the 8-person suite floorplan in the Living at USC booklet, that all suites have two bathrooms.

So I assume that includes the 6 person suites as well.

I'm in Century. What do you all think? I requested all dorms so it was quite the shock! But ac and a pool can't be that bad right? I think my mom is a bit worried about crossing the street all the time and the fact that she checked out crime statistics and Cardinal Garden (like right next to us) has a lot of crime. Any ideas?

***!!!! I got put in century, which wasn't even on my list. This sucks, i really wanted New/North!! There's no way i can live in an apartment next year. Appeals here i come

No offense to any of the scholarship recipients, but it looks like because they got their acceptance letters first (in February, as I recall), they apparently got first dibs at the Housing. Those of us who applied for a scholarship, but got nothing in $$$ came in next, with somewhat of a chance at getting one of our top choices. Finally, those who applied by the normal January 1 deadline seemed out of luck when it came to Housing. :(

This seems to be the trend I'm seeing here. I certainly think it's unfair (and seems to be another "USC buying high-SAT-scoring students" tactic), but unfortunately it is what it is. Anyone like to comment?

redski59: I applied to the Jan 1 deadline and I'll be living in New next year. I know people who applied to the scholarship deadline who didn't hear about their acceptance until after I did.

Hey intelliot and protokurios, I got the Marks Hall residence dorms as well! I'm really excited, even though I heard that our dorms aren't exactly the most comfortable. Haha, oh well! I sent it the forms before I researched about them, so I guess it was my fault. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone! Perhaps I can meet you two, too! I actually found both your AIM screennames (and some other USC-goers)...but I never got the nerve to start talking. Teehee, anyway, my AIM is "phoenixangelfire" if anyone wants to chat before we meet at USC in August! Oh yeah, I'm from Texas (and I just turned 18 this Tuesday!).
