Housing Contract Appeal?

Initially, I was planning on dorming for summer B at UF but the price went up from last year's $680 to $936, which is a substantial increase. The triple is least expensive and it's still over $800! It's just completely unaffordable and I can't justify spending that much when I'd save more going straight into an apartment and it'd cover two months rent.

So I have two questions regarding my circumstances:

Are these sufficient grounds for them to allow me to cancel the housing contract (Subleases are substantially cheaper)

Has anyone successfully appealed to get their housing contract cancelled? If so what did you state or have to verify to do so?

everything you need to know is laid out in the contract you agreed to. read it. they follow the contract to a T, and are not at all lenient about it.

My friend who was going to room with me for Summer B sent in an appeal, and they actually approved it. o.o

She said she just typed up a paragraph…(I’m assuming) of how/why she can’t afford it. So now I’m just going for a random, to experience dorm life the “old-fashioned” way lol
