Housing Deposit...

I know the acceptance deposit goes towards tuition (actually, now it's less know, and more hope), however I'm not sure where my 1000 CAD goes to?

Do I get it refunded in the end of the year, assuming my room isn't trashed? Does it go towards paying room and board, or does it, too, go towards tuition?

bump...I'm hoping a current or past McGill parent reads this...

no. it just goes to your rent.

I am a McGill parent and I don't even quite remember the deposit-you only get your 1st year on campus at McGill, then you are on your own.
If there was a deposit, then I am assuming it was applied to the yearly rent on your dorm. In fact, it must have been.

so to be 100% correct, my 1000 CAD goes towards my rez expenses. So if I got into Douglas, for example, the set price is ~ $9800. After my deposit, it would actually be $8800, or are the figures they calculated already set to include the deposit?

lets say you need to pay mcgill 8,000 dollars for rez. so thats 1000 per month.
your deposit would cover the first month's rent, and you'd owe a balance of 7000 after that.

Hi there. Regarding to your question, I asked the housing officer already. They said that the CAD1000 will be deducted from the total amount. Besides, there will be a price hike in the accommodation fee this year.

price hike?! damnit.
