Housing differences in college ucsd

Hi everyone

I’ve recently been admitted to ucsd for engineering. I got into the top ranked college which is warren… But now i’m having second thoughts. I actually want a single room versus double and tripple–is it difficult to get that at warren? Which college has the highest probability of offering students a single dorm upon request? Is it possible to switch?

This is from another thread on the UCSD forum. It is actually in regards to switching colleges due to GE requirements. I sincerely doubt you can switch colleges to get better dorm room accommodations.
I would assume that you would have to prove the below statement to switch your college…

Intercollege transfers are really rare. You’d have to prove that your college will impact your graduation date.
As a Freshman, highly doubtful you would a single anywhere. UCSD had a housing shortage last year and was making most rooms (doubles) into triples.

Warren has a decent number of single rooms, actually. I know Revelle and Sixth don’t have any and Marshall’s were mostly converted into mini-doubles. That said, Gumbymom is correct that you can’t request a college transfer just to boost your chances of getting a single.

“Top ranked college which is warren” - Where did you hear this from? I’ve never heard of that haha.

Any who as others have said it’s very difficult to switch colleges, and it being room assignments means you have near 0% chance of being able to change. Singles are also fairly difficult to get, so be prepared to be disappointed. :frowning:
