housing/ DORM question!!!

1) Do all rooms have air conditioning?
2) I'm interested in going to substance-free environment-- is this only in unit 1? How is the SFE environment/ ppl?
3) What's the most coveted dorms?

1) Do all rooms have air conditioning?
Nope, no air conditioning (classic windows haha). It’s 80% cool/cold so I don’t think the AC is required until this time of the year - mid summer.

2) I’m interested in going to substance-free environment-- is this only in unit 1? How is the SFE environment/ ppl?
Not sure if Unit 2/3 have SF or not. From what I heard, SF buildings tend to be less social than the rest. However, this is all up the dynamic/make-up of your floor.

3) What’s the most coveted dorms?
Clark Kerr (but it’s too far from campus) & Martinez Common (mainly Sophomores)

Foothill is sometimes desired by engineering students due to convenience to classes.

*is the SFE environment very different from other typical dorms? Are there a lot of noticeable drinking/drug use in other dorms that aren’t SFE?

*Do people bring fans? Or will windows do? :)

I’ve been living in non-SF halls for the last 2 years and I haven’t seen anything BAD BAD. People drink every now and then, but they’re pretty considerate about it. I would say that non-SF and SF are not that different. I’d say your chance of getting a bad bad bad floor is probably 10-15% (I just made that up) so if you don’t want to risk it, go for non-SF.

A fan is optional. I bought a fan during my freshman year and have only used it like 20-30x ever since. I wouldn’t recommend it since it’s one more thing for you to pack when you move out.
