Housing for a Transfer student

So today i found out i am #175 on the suite wait list. I am extremely nervous now because i was given the impression that the housing applications started in the end of may and by me doing it in the beginning of april i was in good shape. That was obviously not the case. I highly doubt 175 people will cancel so there goes my thoughts of living on campus.

So i applied for the village today and found out i am number 60 something. I asked one of the head people there and she said last year 50 people got off the wait list and received housing. Once again, disappointment.

I am transferring from new york so housing is vital. I dont understand why guaranteed housing isn’t offered to out of state students, i really don’t. Now my dreams of living on a beautiful campus are being ripped away from me with the realization that i am probably going have to settle for an apartment somewhere off campus in some run down neighborhood.

Thanks CPP i really appreciate it.
Wish i would of got into UCSB so bad.

I wish the best of luck for you. I can’t really say much but CPP is a commuter school. Try to find a place west of the 71 if you don’t want to be in a run down neighborhood. Since you could afford the suites, I’ll assume that you could find something in Walnut, rio Rancho rd, village loop rd (they have nice houses there)

I would not totally give up on on-campus housing yet. My son was in a similar situation last year, being told
“top 200 on wait list” then “top 50” and so on. The housing wait list moves a lot. They got a spot for him in the suites less than a week before school started. Now others in the same situation might have gotten too nervous and found other arrangements. I also know they had openings come up after the school year started. So I guess the key is to able to move in whenever an opening comes up and not tie yourself up with a one year lease somewhere else.

Guaranteed housing isn’t guaranteed to out-of-state students because you are “OOS”. The State of California funds our colleges and universities and the state is out of money, so the priority is to provide for the freshman first. Freshman housing is provided because freshman aren’t always the most savvy students when it comes to rental properties.

Ugh, I just found out that I’m 125 on the wait list. I need to move there in a month and now I need to find a place off campus with parking and furniture. Did you figure something out @x2xcmcx2x?

@cloud415 They actually moved me up the waiting list due to my circumstances and i received my rooming assignment today. The best bet for you in my opinion would be looking for off-campus housing. There is a facebook group tailored for cpp students looking for roomates and stuff like that.

Hey i never received any emails or stuff regarding my position, but I called today to ask and I’m in the top 150.
How would I check my position on the wait list?

Anyone transferring Winter 2015? Has anyone been able to get on the waitlist yet for that quarter?
