They say to apply as early as possible to get the dorm you request, has anyone registered yet? And does anyone know how fast people tend to do this... Like by taking a few days to decide on your list could that lessen chances of receiving your top choice...

sign up right now! Make a selection for the dorm and don't worry because you can go back and change that selection up until the deadline date (I think in May?) Just get in asap.

all right im signing up haha i bet there are a lot of people rushing and can you change the answers to the initial questions later? like the ones about sleeping free time possessions etc.

My S did this last year and I think you can change your preferences--not 100% positive. But you cannot change your login name--so make sure you like the one you choose. :) Other kids will see that login name when they are looking for roommates.

i might be attending USC but i'm still not 100% sure. should i sign up for housing anyway to beat the rush? are we even allowed to if we arent going for sure?

Yes! Sign up right now. The $30 is a great investment in your future if you go and a small loss if you end up going to a different school (which must have given you enough money to more than make up for that thirty).

I signed up the day the application was available and I didn't know if I was even interested in USC, but now I am in love.

thanks! my only concern was that if i sign up for housing, i was afraid that it would bind me to the school

No, that is not true. You only loose $30. It's not binding. Please do sign up and don't hesitate.

i just signed up :) thank you

I just signed up too. I'll eat the $30 if I have to, but I doubt I will.

OMG how do you pick where to live?! idk where any of those dorms are or what they look like

You have time to decide on where you are going to live. I have already changed my preferences three times. I don't know the exact date that your choices must be made, but I am sure it is relatively close to May 1, being that if you sign up by then, you are guaranteed housing as a freshman.

My advice, search these forums and check out the USC housing pages. That and ask around for current student's opinions on the dorms. They may not live in one or the other, but they will know the general feel of most of them.

it is my understanding that on may 1, the deadline for letting usc know if you will attend their college, your housing decision is finalized. then they go through and start the roommate matching process.

so first thing I do for USC I **** up majorly...i accidentally put a RESIDENCE HALL PROGRAM and u can't change that. what do i do!?!?!?!!?

you can call them or email them to change it for you

thanks bmom
does ur son/daughter go to USC?

londonx105, my s is a freshman this year, he is staying in New/North.

How does he like new/north?

he likes the location and he's ok with it not having a/c but he said that the washrooms get pretty gross by the end of the day (they clean in the morning).
I thought the room was really run down, his chest of drawer is quite broken, none of the drawers match and they don't open or close properly.

New North is very popular for a lot of kids.
