So I'm thinking ahead a bit and thinking of transferring for spring 2012, but I guess its good that I'm ahead of the game. Two things that I'm looking for are schools in a more urban environment and schools that have good creative writing programs. Luckily The New School and Emerson fulfill those requirement mightily. Unfortunately, however, it seems that housing at these schools could be a problem as its not guaranteed and as transfers seem to usually get the short end of the stick. I also don't really see paying for an apartment in Boston or NYC to be a very viable option. Could anyone that knows more about how this works give me some insight? I would hate to pass up a fitting academic opportunity for something as ultimately unimportant as housing.

A lot of New School students (beyond freshman year) find housing in Brooklyn where it’s less expensive. I think their housing site has a link to off campus resources for housing. You could also call or email their housing office to ask.

Thanks for the advice!

will be transferring to Emerson in the Fall. Looking for a roommate (male) - biggest priority is proximity to campus. I am from out of state so won’t have a car. Anyone else looking for a roommate??? Emerson is not offering on-campus housing for transfer students in the Fall.
Thanks!
