I saw on Georgetown's website that on campus housing is guaranteed for all freshmen and sophomores, but is it difficult to find decent housing as a sophomore transfer student?

No, in fact I’m pretty sure Georgetown sets aside some of the best housing specifically for transfer students, AKA Copley (right next to Healy).

Hi Jack - I transferred to Georgetown last year. All new transfer students are required to live on campus their first year and it’s guaranteed. By 2015, 90% of students have to live on campus, so you won’t have a problem if you want to live on campus all 3 years.

In terms of ‘decent’ housing, 95% of transfers get some of the worst dorms (LXR, VCE, and Kennedy) but there are a bunch of regular, unlucky students there as well. They’re all still air conditioned, etc, so you can’t really complain, but it’s simply dorms versus apartments. Basically transfer students get whatever is left as the rest of the university has already selected housing.

Georgetown recognizes that they’re shafting transfers, so we get better lottery numbers after the first year. Housing is ultimately only a small piece of what Georgetown offers compared to opportunities.
