So i emailed uf asking them if the housing contract was actually due march 1st, and it is! How am I supposed to weigh out my options from other schools if i have to commit to uf by march 1st?! And I'm really wondering, why did i have to pay that $25 "housing fee" a while bak before i was even accepted? I thought that reserved my spot in line... Now uf is telling me that it was to let housing know that I'll live on campus... How does that require $25?! This all seems rather ridiculous.

Yep, that’s how it goes… I was in the same EXACT boat. I had no idea where I was going and the housing application was due, there was nothing I could do so I just turned it in when I was certain I was going to UF. If you turn it in late, you will still get a dorm (as long as you aren’t too late, I turned mine in in late May or June). You won’t get number 1 pick and you will have to hawk the housing site to get your best pick of dorm, but I don’t recommend living on campus anyway. It would be beneficial if you could do it for one semester, but once you sign the contract you’re stuck for the whole year.

i’m gonna basically second fckthepolice’s statement, but say that it probably is worth living in the dorms as a freshmen. not entirely necessary, so don’t get too freaked out if you don’t get a room, but still recommendable.

UF is making me mad. They’re requiring this housing contract before april decisions… they’re making me do ANOTHER FAFSA because of Summer B, Bright Futures doesn’t even cover summer sessions AND I have to start 20 days after my high school graduation… FSU offered me 8,000$, isn’t requiring a decision until May, and I can start in Fall like everyone else… Sorry for the venting, UF’s bureaucratic methods are just ****ing me off.
