Housing lottery 2013-2014

sky thanks for replying. You are going to be a sophomore next year?

I think a lot of people don’t like the location of Rockoff but I would prefer it over a dorm. By far.

Technically I’m a sophomore. I transferred in last summer and they haven’t yet accepted all of my credits, so technically I’m a sophomore. I’m quite pleased with Rockoff. I prefer it over any other situation other than an apartment or suite on Busch.

@sky2k8336 I had pretty much the same situation! My lottery number was in the late 6000’s, I was waitlisted, then I accepted a spot in Rockoff. (Though I’m trying to see if anyone wants to switch with me within Rockoff, lol.) I was surprised that there were so many open apartments in Rockoff that we were offered them instead of dorms first, but I’m pretty happy. =)

I’m a junior and I got selected to have housing at Rockoff… I’m not too happy with it because I don’t really get along with my roommates. The only reason I chose it was because I had no other place to go, now I’m stuck and scared my grades are going to plummet.
If anyone knows of a single or apartment available on College Ave or Livingston Campus please let me know

erod have you already met your roommates?

You can ask for a room change now, but you may be put into a dorm if there are no other options. But I would call housing and explain the situation and see what they can do, it is still early.

If you are looking for off campus housing, try the FB pages for various years (eg Accepted: Rutgers class of 2015) and check the Rutgers off campus housing page [Search / Create Listings | Off-Campus Housing Services](Search / Create Listings – Off-Campus Living and Community Partnerships)

In any case, I would contact housing right away to discuss your options.

Is anyone still on the housing wait list?

i apply may 8th, still on the waitlist :(

Guess that means I’m screwed then. I applied wait list 7/24 which means I probably won’t get housing at all.

I still think you will get housing, but it may not be at the start of the semester, when you want it. People are always dropping out/changing their mind with housing.

I emailed to oncampus@rci.rutgers.edu about my desperate needs for an on campus housing, and for the time being, they are placing me in a temporary lounge until a space is available. Housing is probably extremely packed this year, and students that are on the wait list will probably not get in unless they email to the residence life administration about their desperate needs. I even found an online article about it. [University to place students in temporary housing](http://m.dailytargum.com/mobile/news/university-to-place-students-in-temporary-housing/article_343a967a-0aaa-11e3-bfcc-0019bb30f31a.html)

So it looks like about 200 students have to go to temporary housing.

The good thing is that they will charge half the price for the temp housing, and you will be on campus. They also expect to place everyone into permanent housing in the first couple of months. I know they’re saying it’s not guaranteed, but they probably have to say that. People drop out all the time. You will get in.

Have any wait-listed students gotten into permanent housing? What did you get?

Bumping to review last year’s results.
