Where do you guys think I have a reasonable chance of living next year as a rising sophomore with a 7:40 time slot on the 10th (first day of lottery for rising sophomores)? Housing told me there's a possibility of there being rooms available in the Gothics. Otherwise, do you think there might be rooms left over in Risley? Gahh. Anyone had any similar experiences? Someone told me that last year they had a 6:40 time slot as a rising sophomore and there was still space in Cook?

There are still going to be rooms available in the new West Campus houses at least for the entire first day, though it gets harder to block rooms, even non-suite rooms after time goes by. There are unfortunately no suites past 5-6 PM on the first day on West Campus.
Having a slot on the 11th is a guarantee that you’ll be left with mostly the Gothics.

I’m going to have to disagree with you. The suites in all the new dorms will basically be gone by 4:20 or 4:40 if you’re really lucky. All west campus rooms will be gone by around 6:40-7ish…(at least this was what happened last year)

Thanks, that’s useful to know. I have a 5:40 timeslot on the 11th and am hoping for a spot (maybe even a single??) in Sheldon Court. I still haven’t decided where I want to go otherwise…Cascadilla would be alright I guess.

kartrider360, is that 6:40-7 approximation just pertaining to the new dorms or for all of West Campus (including Gothics)?

I spoke directly with the housing directors (those guys who put on all the presentations pertaining to the housing lottery), and they told me that generally there should be a couple (and by a couple, I mean VERY FEW) suites left in the house system by 6:00 on the 10th and that by 8:00 or so, the houses start to go. By the 11th, you might be able to snag a spot in one of the annexed gothics, but good luck past 6:00 PM or so.
