housing not guaranteed after freshman year?

Is it still likely to get on campus housing after freshman year? Or do you have to look for an apartment? Are there any stats on this?

Berkeley guarantees you two years of housing if you are an entering freshmen.

Visit http://www.housing.berkeley.edu/livingatcal/ for more information.

thank you good sir

u get all 4 if ur regents

That's true, everyone is guaranteed two years of housing, and four years of housing if you're a regents scholar. I'm not sure how third and above years are treated if they want housing and are not regents scholars, but many students choose to move out of the dorms at that point.

most kids want to move off after the first year as the dorm housing is more expensive!!

That's true, off-campus housing tends to be less expensive (although people sometimes forget about food). I don't know if it's "most" students, though, but maybe it is.

housing is guaranteed, and the only problem (at least in the future) with outside housing is that, the market is already saturated as it is, and the fact that berkeley is accepting more and more students each year doesn't help.

as for the food issue, berkeley does have meal plans available for students not residing in the dorms...not sure about the specifics with that, though...

Indeed. . . .

for regents does it merely guarantee housing or does it pay for it?

Guarantee only I believe...

What about those with extreme financial need?

then they will receive their regents scholarship with a larger grant.
